About these terms
These terms cover your use of Boba's Launch Alerts (the "app"), made by BackDrop Studios LLC ("we", "us"). By downloading or using the app, you agree to them. If you're a parent or guardian setting the app up for a child, you're agreeing on their behalf and you're responsible for how they use it.
What the app is
The app follows upcoming and past rocket launches, estimates whether a launch, the International Space Station or a Starlink satellite train may be visible from where you are, sends optional alerts, and includes learning features, predictions, games, Boba's Journey, and augmented-reality rockets at real size.
Mission Crew subscription
- Free trial: new subscribers get a 7-day free trial. You won't be charged if you cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends. One free trial per Apple ID, as decided by Apple.
- Price: $3.99 per month or $29.99 per year (US prices; other countries are shown in local currency in the App Store).
- Billing: payment is charged to your Apple ID when the trial ends, or when you confirm the purchase if you aren't eligible for a trial.
- Auto-renewal: the subscription renews automatically at the same price for the same period unless you turn off auto-renew at least 24 hours before the current period ends. Your Apple ID is charged within the 24 hours before renewal.
- Managing or cancelling: open Settings on your iPhone → your name → Subscriptions → Boba's Launch Alerts. Cancelling stops the next renewal; you keep access until the end of the period you've paid for.
- Family Sharing: Mission Crew can be shared with up to five family members through Apple's Family Sharing.
After the free trial, the app's features require an active Mission Crew subscription. If your subscription ends, everything your family has earned in the app (Knowledge, journal entries, cards, logbook and scores) is kept, and it's all there again if you subscribe later.
Purchases are handled by Apple and are subject to Apple's terms. Refunds are handled by Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com; we can't issue refunds directly.
Launch times, visibility and weather are estimates
Rockets scrub, slip and move, sometimes at the last second. Launch information comes from Launch Library 2 by The Space Devs, satellite orbits from CelesTrak, and weather from Apple Weather. Visibility calls, sky directions, distances, flight paths, speeds and countdowns in the app are our best estimates, not official information from any launch provider. We work hard to keep them accurate, but we can't promise that any launch time, visibility call, weather forecast or alert will be correct or arrive on time.
Stay safe
- Augmented reality: keep an eye on your surroundings while using the camera. Don't use AR near roads, water, stairs or traffic, and kids should use it with an adult nearby.
- Watching a launch: follow local rules and road closures. Never stop on a highway or enter restricted areas to see a launch. Don't use the app while driving.
- The sky: never look directly at the Sun.
Callsigns, the scoreboard and card trades
- Your callsign appears on the Top Crew scoreboard, where other people using the app can see it. Please choose a fun nickname, not a real name, and nothing rude, hurtful or personal. We may remove or change any callsign or score at our discretion.
- Scores should come from actually playing. We may remove scores that look tampered with.
- Fact File cards have no cash value and can't be bought or sold. Trades are one-time: once a card is redeemed on another phone, it's moved, not copied.
What you may not do
Please don't copy, modify, resell, reverse engineer or redistribute the app or its artwork, models, sounds or text; interfere with our servers or the scoreboard; or use the app for anything unlawful.
Ownership and credits
The app, Boba, Tiny, Boba's Journey, the artwork and the writing belong to BackDrop Studios LLC. 3D models, panoramas and data from others are used under their licences and credited inside the app (Settings → Credits). Boba's Launch Alerts is an independent app and is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by SpaceX, NASA, or any launch provider or space agency. Their names and vehicle names are used only to identify the real rockets and missions the app follows.

Changes to the app and these terms
We may add, change or remove features, and we may update these terms. If a change matters, we'll update the date at the top and mention it in the app's release notes. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the updated terms.
No warranty, and limits on liability
The app is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, and we aren't liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages, or for missed launches, trips taken or decisions made based on information in the app. Our total liability for any claim relating to the app is limited to the amount you paid for it in the 12 months before the claim. Some places don't allow these limits, so they may not all apply to you.
Apple
These terms are between you and BackDrop Studios LLC, not Apple. Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the app. If the app fails to meet any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple may refund the purchase price, if any; Apple has no other warranty obligation. Apple isn't responsible for any claims relating to the app, and Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them. You also agree to Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement, which applies alongside these terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules.
