Privacy Policy

Boba's Launch Alerts is a family app for following rocket launches. We built it for our own kid, and we treat your family's information the way we'd want ours treated: we collect as little as possible, we keep it on your device wherever we can, and we never sell it.

What the app collects, and why

• Location. Used only to work out whether a launch is visible from where you are, which direction to look, and the local weather. Your location is processed on your device and is not sent to our servers. You can decline location access; the app still works without it.
• Push notification token. If you turn on alerts, Apple and Google's Firebase Cloud Messaging give the app an anonymous device token so we can send launch updates (a scrub, a delay, a go call). The token is not linked to your name, email, or any account. Turning alerts off removes it.
• Purchase status. If you subscribe to Mission Crew, Apple handles the payment and tells the app whether the subscription is active. We never see your payment details.
• Logbook, photos, notes, calls, quiz results, Academy points. Everything you and your kids create in the app is stored on your device only. Photos you add to the Logbook stay on the phone. Nothing is uploaded.
• Diagnostics. The app uses Firebase to deliver notifications and may record anonymous crash and performance information (device model, OS version, app version) so we can fix bugs. This is not used for advertising and is not linked to you.

What the app does not do

• No accounts, no sign-in, no email addresses.
• No advertising, and no advertising identifiers.
• No selling or sharing of personal information with third parties.
• No tracking across other apps or websites.
• No chat, messaging, or user-generated content shared with other users.

Children

The app is designed to be used by families together and is safe for children, but it is offered to parents and guardians, not directly to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because nothing a child creates in the app leaves the device, there is nothing for us to collect. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

Third-party services

• Launch Library 2 (The Space Devs) supplies launch data. The app requests it directly; no personal information is sent.
• Open-Meteo supplies weather for your location. The request contains coordinates only.
• Firebase (Google) delivers push notifications. See Google's privacy policy for how they handle device tokens.
• Apple handles purchases, Game Center leaderboards (if you sign in to Game Center), and app distribution under Apple's privacy policy.

Sharing

When you share a Mission Poster or card, the app creates an image on your device and hands it to the iOS share sheet. What happens next is up to you and the app you share it to.

Your choices

• Location, notifications, and photos are controlled in iOS Settings and can be turned off at any time.
• Deleting the app deletes everything it stored on your device.
• Subscriptions are managed in your Apple ID settings.

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that matters, we'll update the date above and note it in the app's release notes.
